Discussion Sessions in a Computer Based Psychology Course
By Cathrine Wambach and Thomas Brothen, University of Minnesota

Abstract

Opportunities for face-to-face discussion were offered to students in an introductory psychology course taught using a PSI, mastery model with computer-based activities. While many students expressed interest in the discussion activities, few actually attended when the opportunities were made available. Compared to non-participants, students who participated in the discussions described themselves as more concerned about grades. There were no differences between participants and non-participants on course outcomes.
