NYCLSA Scholarship Opportunities
Both the NYCLSA Promising Student Award and the NYCLSA Professional Development Scholarship Award are funded through our generous members who contribute directly to the fund and who support fundraising activities at NYCLSA’s annual Symposium.
NYCLSA Promising Student Award
NYCLSA started this $300 award in 2009 to offer financial assistance to developmental students. The student must be enrolled full-time at a two- or four-year institution of higher education, must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher, must have passing grades in any developmental courses taken, and must be nominated by a NYCLSA member in good standing (excluding current Board members).
NYCLSA Professional Development Scholarship Award
Please Note: Because of decreased membership and a limited Treasury, NYCLSA is unable to offer the Professional Development Scholarship for 2019. We hope to offer this again in 2020.
NYCLSA started this $500 scholarship in 2003 to support the professional development of NYCLSA members in good standing for the last two years or longer and who have worked in developmental education for the last two years or longer. This scholarship can be used for professional development opportunities such as (but not limited to) the Kellogg Institute, the Technology Institute, On Course, SI training, or a graduate course in developmental education or a related field.
