NOSS Tip of the Week (4/27-5/3/2020)

Dear NOSS members,

I would like to take a moment to share this great article that came across my desk, sent by Eddie Castaneda, a dear colleague at UTEP.   

At UTEP, many conversations are occurring on how to help and support faculty during this unprecedented time.  I assume those conversations are taking place at your institutions as well.  Leaders, as well as faculty and staff, are discussing such things as the impact on the tenure and promotion process, the inability to conduct research, the effect on faculty evaluations, and concerns over hiring.  Will departments still be able to hire adjuncts, post-doctoral students, or T.A.’s?  These questions loom large in our windows.  Through it all, though, EQUITY must guide decision-making.
